Rachel Saylor

A black and white photo of a woman against a lake backdrop.Rachel Saylor joined the Donald Maass Literary Agency in 2023, starting her career assisting Katie Shea Boutillier with editorial reporting on active manuscripts and has since transitioned into her role as Assistant Literary Agent. She is passionate about working closely with authors to strengthen and polish their manuscripts ahead of submission, and is committed to supporting clients through every step of the publishing process.

Rachel is drawn to women’s contemporary fiction, upmarket fiction, romance, thrillers, complicated family dynamics, magical realism, and speculative fiction. She is particularly looking for strong, complex protagonists who leave a lasting impression. She loves emotionally resonant stories that dig into relationships, identity, and the messiness of real life.

She started working in the agency’s New York City office before relocating to the Arizona desert, where she now works remotely (but still misses the energy of the city).
